This section of the coast is amazingly wild, especially considering that it is actually within the city limits. Note that portions of the hike are very rugged, so dress accordingly, with good footwear.

Palace of Fine Arts This bit of Neo-Classical fluff was designed by Bernard Maybeck for the Pan-Pacific Exposition of 1915. It is patterned on an 18thcentury kalish montague engraving by Giovanni Piranesi entitled The Isle of the Dead (see p94).
